Majeed “Maj” Fick (@audiowizkid) is a Mix Engineer and Record Producer. His vast experience as a recordist started with a Publishing (Songwriting) deal at age 19. As Maj began to write songs professionally, he also began an education at a world renown school in the field (SAE-Miami). A chance meeting turned into an internship that led to joining the staff at some of the most respected recording studios in the nation. It was soon obvious that making records was his true calling.
Maj carries a tutelage of knowledge as an “indirect disciple” of Tom Dowd’s legacy at the legendary Criteria Studios in North Miami Beach (Layla, Hotel California, Disreli Gears, Rumours, Eat A Peach, I Feel Good, How Deep Is Your Love, Carter III and many more). A true world class facility, Criteria is an idyllic place for a young Engineer to be taught by industry veterans about the nuances of sound recording. Fabian Marasciullo, Marcella Araica, Demacio “Demo” Castellon, and Jimmy Douglass are among the Mixing Engineers Maj observed as an assistant at Criteria. He also spent a year studying under Matt Knobel at Setai Recording where he assisted on sessions for artists Chris Cornell, Jay Z, Timbaland, Mary J Blige, Juicy J, and Big Boi. As a result, Maj has a very well rounded understanding of the recording process and has major credits as a songwriter, producer and mixer.
Prior to founding Arbor Sound, Maj lead the development and operations of Truphonic Recording, helping establish it as a premier recording facility in the South East (Truphonic Website). Maj recorded/mixed for artists such as Dangermuffin, Lee Barbour, Charlton Singleton, Ben Fagan, Dead27’s and Elise Testone. Truphonic has since become the artistic residence for Producer Quentin Baxter, and held the recording sessions for Grammy Award winning album “Good Times” by Ranky Tanky. Truphonic also houses go-to Mastering Engineer Vlado Meller.
In 2014, Maj ventured to Los Angeles in order to begin collaborating with Seeno (@seeno_music) and develop studio/label Ohm House (Ohm House Website). There he worked as a mixer/producer for artists such as BRIDGE, Scott Storch, IDK, Gavin Haley, Montana Tucker, Jordyn Jones, Cricket, Sam Hook, MaWayy, and Chris Mattic.
The realization of Arbor Sound is the culmination of thousands of hours in the studio with the brightest talents from around the world.
